Agape International Ministries began as a bible study in the home of our founding and Senior Pastor, Lucius P. McDowell in McDonough, Georgia. On October 6, 1999, Pastor McDowell and his family held their first service at Wesley Lakes Elementary School. Ten people joined that day and the church since its inception has continued to grow.
The ministry continued to grow and prosper and later moved to the historic district of the City of McDonough. Per county regulation, churches are allowed a specific period of time to occupy school facilities for religious purposes. Therefore the ministry leased the top portion of a building located in historic downtown McDonough. The Body of Christ continued to grow rapidly as the Word of God was delivered in power along with the evidence of miracles and signs following.
As a result of the Lord adding to the ministry, Agape International Ministries expanded operations occupying the upper and lower floors of 19 Griffin Street in downtown McDonough. Pastor Lucius McDowell was led to move forth in possessing 10 acres of land which was purchased within the first two years of the ministry. In order to possess the land which God had given to Agape instructions were given to position the ministry to construct a sanctuary to house ministry functions.
Agape moved into a temporary location at Dutchtown Elementary School located in Hampton, GA for nine months. During the nine months of transition, Agape remained steadfast, unmovable, and abounding in the work of the Lord.
On Sunday, November 1, 2009, Agape International Ministries, held its first service at the headquarter location at 4040 Jonesboro Road in Hampton, GA.
